A comparison between 15 private sector banks operating in the country and 19 PSU banks shows private sector banks performed better in terms of other income to total income ratio during October-December 2005.
In the case of private sector banks, other income to total income ratio at the aggregate level showed marginal decrease during October-December 2005, against that of October-December 2004, and in the case of PSU Banks, other income to total income ratio also showed a decline but significant. And the ratio was higher in private sector banks compared to PSU banks during both the time periods.
Amit Tandon, MD, Fitch India said: The product offering by private sector banks is wider than that of public sector banks. This is reflected in higher fee based income.
