German sports carmaker Porsche seems to be on course to achieve its sales targets. Its Porsche Rs 1.4 crore to Rs 2 crore Panamera, launched in October, has bagged 25 orders. Sixteen of these will be delivered this year. The company had set a sales target of 50 units within a year.

Porsches global sales also provide it with a reason to cheer. Till March, Porsche has sold 16,000 Panameras globally. The company had set a target of selling 20,000 units at its launch last year.

Of Porsches India sales, 65% are Cayenne and the rest are sports cars. Porsche sells Cayenne, Boxster, Cayman, Panamera and 911 range in the country. The price range of the cars extends from a base price of Rs 59 lakh to Rs 2.05 crore in India. The company sold 94 cars last year.

Meanwhile, last week Porsche unveiled its second-generation Porsche Cayenne at the Porsche Ce tre, Mumbai. It showcased a hybrid version, the Cayenne S Hybrid. It starts at Rs 65 lakh and goes up to Rs 1.2 crore, ex-showroom India.

James Bourne, regional operations head, Porsche Middle East, said, We are looking to strengthen our footprint and reach out to our target customers. We are expanding our dealership from two to five.

On whether the company plans to assemble the Cayenne in India, Bourne refuted the suggestion.
