Dutt, who took over as the governor of the state last week, took the guard of honour and hoisted the tricolour at the Police Parade ground. He said it was heartening to see many people coming forward to take on the Naxals.
The government on its part would not let go in vain the sacrifices made by the police officers, jawans of security forces and the people at large while tackling Naxals, he said.
It is necessary that the people continue to support the government to put an end to the Naxal menace once for all, he added.
The governor reviewed various welfare schemes launched by the state government and said it was the responsibility of the state to increase revenue from the mineral resources.
The governor observed that the state boasts of very high quality minerals found here in abundance and it was the responsibility of the state to capitalise on the natural resourses.
