Patni Computer Systems general manager and head - BPO Sanjiv Kapur said that the company has two centres one in Noida and the other in Pune. The Pune centre would be operational by the middle of the third quarter this year. The company is setting up its third centre in the US, keeping in mind disaster recovery and business continuity needs. These investments will be deployed to scale up the existing centres and in setting up the new one.
The three centres have a total capacity of 1050 seats with 550 in Noida, 400 in Pune and 100 in the upcoming centre in the US. Mr Kapur explained that approximately $7-8 million each has been allocated for the centres in India, while $2 million has been allocated for the US centre. The centre in US will also cater to the Spanish speaking customers of the company.
Patni has been focusing on the insurance and HR sectors and expects the first pilot in both these sectors to kick off in June. Mr Kapur said that Patni, in the first year of its focus on BPO, will focus on service and delivery capability which will eventually be scaled up.
The company currently services three of the Fortune 500 companies and expects to add two more by the end of this quarter.
