Mr Vijay Dewan, managing director of The Park Hotels, said he is looking at an increased flow of corporate clients. At present, 95 per cent of the guests at The Park Kolkata are business travellers, he pointed out.
In the year to March 31, 2003, the Delhi-based Park Hotels chain total foreign exchange earnings worth Rs 10 crore from the three properties Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore - that will now flaunt the Design Hotels logo.
The Groups total forex earnings including Delhi and Visakhapatnam added up to Rs 32 crore, while total revenues added up to Rs 76.5 crore, against Rs 56 crore the previous year. The three Park properties thus become the first Indian hotels to adopt the Design Hotels brand, which is carried by over 100 properties in 36 countries.
The Design Hotels concept is carried by unusual properties that not only have the finest in service and infrastructure, but also offer pleasant surprises to guests, according to Mr Robert Deiner, vice-president and chief operating officer of Design Hotels Berlin.
Every single hotel provides a very unique experience for the traveller, Mr Deiner said. We do not want to be a standardised brand. Mr Deiner said Design Hotels is against tying up with chains that pride themselves on the standardisation of their product worldwide.
