Three years after its launch in 2007, Panchkula IT park is set to see some activity with the companies rolling out construction of its first phase.

Around seven companies that were allotted plots, ranging between one to 10 acre and even smaller plots, have already submitted their building plans with the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC). Sources in HSIIDC told FE that some plans have already been approved and the companies are ready to begin construction.

Though IT bigwigs like Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Wipro etc had evinced little or no interest in setting up their campuses at the Panchkula IT park, about 22 plots were allotted to medium and small IT companies in May 2008. The first phase of the park will be spread over 75 acre. The proposed investment by the companies is estimated at Rs 1,100 crore with direct employment potential for about 50,000 trained professionals and an equal number of avenues for indirect employment.

A senior HSIIDC official said, There has been a delay on the construction front as the layout plan of the IT park has been changed hence affecting the building plans of the companies. But now the approval is expected soon and companies can begin construction thereafter. Moreover the plots were allotted in 2008 and we give four years time for the companies to start construction. So before 2011 we cant issue any notice regarding the same.

A prime 10 acre plot in the first phase has been allotted to Rolling Constructions, which has proposed to invest around Rs 354 crore over a period of time and has already begun construction on the site. The official further said companies who have taken possession of the plot and submitted their building plans include, Dibon Software Solutions, Vishwa Infotech, Innovative Solutions and Altruist Technologies. Apart from these nine plots of two acre size have been allotted to companies like Parabolic Research Lab, Spice Communications, Praxton Impex, Comet Software and Haryana Infotech etc.

Another 12 sites, ranging between 1 and 1.5 acre, stand allotted to companies like Mobera Systems, FCS Software Solutions, Paramount Software etc. Meanwhile work on infrastructure including construction of roads, retaining wall near Ghaggar river, laying of sewerage scheme, drainage scheme, street light etc has been completed by HSIIDC, said the official.
