Pak Missile Tests From Today

Pakistan plans to carry out a series of missile tests from May 25-28. The foreign ministry spokesperson on Friday said, “we have been informed by Pakistan that it plans to carry out a series of missile tests comprising short and medium range missiles and that appropriate notifications have been issued for these tests, which are scheduled between May 25-28.”

While notifying India about the tests, Pakistan has said, “this is routine and not central to the current situation” between the two countries, she said.

She said India expected Pakistan to do was to spell out the specific action it had taken to stop cross-border infiltration and terrorism, to dismantle training camps for terrorists, to destroy the support and financing structures for their networks, and to show conclusively that it had abandoned its use and promotion of terrorism as an instrument of state policy.

“That is why the government of India is not particularly impressed by these missile antics, clearly targeted at the domestic audience in Pakistan,” she added.

To a question, she said both India and Pakistan are obliged under the Lahore declaration to inform each other if either of them is conducting missiles tests.
