Outsourcing hits RBI staff strength: Left

Left parties expressed concern over depleting staff strength in the Reserve Bank of India due to outsourcing, saying this was being done to curb trade union activities.

Raising the issue, Basudeb Acharya (CPM) said the total staff strength had come down from 36,000 in 1990 to 20,000 and in 2003, there was further elimination of 4,500 employees.

Sting operations norms soon: govt

Talking tough on sting operations carried out by electronics media, the government said that it would soon come out with guidelines and steps in this regard.

Replying to a matter raised by a member on the sting operation shown by a private TV channel on Monday on MPs allegedly sub-letting their quarters on rent to earn money, information and broadcasting minister PR Dasmunsi said government will decide on issuing a show cause notice to the channel soon.
