Oriental Bank finds glitches in erstwhile GTB

Oriental Bank of Commerce has found irregularities in the working of erstwhile Global Trust Bank, minister of state for finance SS Palanimanickam said.

The bank has filed 17 criminal complaints with CBI, involving 30 borrowal accounts with aggregate recoverable amount of Rs 729.15 crore for in depth investigation and to book the culprits in accordance with law, he said in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha here.

GTB disbursed Rs 4,016.41 crore loan during 1998 to 2004 and as on December 31, 2004, had aggregated 95 non-performing assets (bad debts) having an outstanding of Rs one crore and above each, with an aggregate outstanding of Rs 1,313.35 crore.
