Oracle Signs Pact With TN IT Body For E-governance Solutions

Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Ltd (Elcot) and Oracle India Private Ltd have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as an on-going initiative of the Tamil Nadu government to deploy IT for streamlining operations and optimising the use of government resources.

Elcot has been identified as the nodal agency for driving e-governance in Tamil Nadu, Elcot managing director Sudeep Jain said. Commenting on the MoU with Oracle, he said that emphasis will be on security, operations continuity, availability, scalability and lowering total cost of ownership.

According to Oracle India managing director Shekhar Dasgupta, The MoU will give us an opportunity to use Oracle technology and applications in providing world-class e-governance solutions to the state government. Oracle has provided e-governance solutions to 28 state governments, Mr Dasgupta said, adding that in Tamil Nadu, it has provided solutions for the Tamil Nadu Urban Development Project, Chennai Corporation and other government agencies.

Meanwhile, the seventh national e-governance conference was recently held in Chennai in which 22 states participated.
