Opposition disrupts both Houses of Parliament over farmers issues

The Opposition NDA and the Third Front on Tuesday vociferously raised the issue of farmers plight in both Houses of Parliament leading to repeated adjournments.

As the two Houses met for the day, ahead of the presentation of the Railway Budget, NDA, Samajwadi Party (SP) and TDP members were up on their feet demanding a discussion over plight of farmers across the country.

SP members led by Akhilesh Singh Yadav rushed to the Well of the Lok Sabha raising the issue of farmer suicides.

Speaker Somnath Chaterjees repeated pleas to maintain order particularly when a Swedish Parliamentary delegation was seated in the Speakers gallery, went unheeded.

In Rajya Sabha, SP and TDP members were up on their feet the moment Chairman Hamid Ansari called for Question Hour. NDA too joined the protests as the SP and TDP members trooped into the Well of the House.

Kisan Virodhi Sarkar Nahi Chalegi (anti-farmer government will not be allowed to run) created a din in the Houseand the Upper House was adjourned till noon.
