Operating costs drag United Spirits net; Rel Power profit up 5 times

Vijay Mallya-owned United Spirits Ltd has posted a 26% fall in net profit for the second quarter ended September 30, 2009, to Rs 69.6 crore from Rs 93.8 crore a year earlier. The slide is owing to mounting operating costs and interest payments. Net sales rose 19% to Rs 1,080 crore from Rs 902 crore in the second quarter of the previous year. United Spirits shares went down by 4.6% or Rs 48.2 to close at Rs 1,000 on BSE on Tuesday.

Rel Power net at Rs 194 cr

Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group company Reliance Powers consolidated net profit rose 5.22 times to Rs 194.53 crore for quarter ended September 30 against Rs 37.21 crore for the corresponding quarter of previous year. Total income also grew 4.32 times to Rs 2,46.15 crore at Rs 56 95 crore. For half year Reliance Powers net was at Rs 457.84 crore and total income at Rs 581.66 crore.

PFC profit surges 94%

Power Finance Corporation (PFC) on Tuesday reported a 94% growth in net profit at Rs 637.91 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2009. The company, which provides finance for power sector, had a net profit of Rs 329.32 crore in the September quarter of FY'09, PFC said.

Total income rose to Rs 2,046.42 crore during the July-September quarter of the current fiscal from Rs 1,602.11 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.

RNRL net at Rs 21 cr

Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group company Reliance Natural Resources' (RNRL) net profit increased by 5% to Rs 21.15 crore for the quarter ended September 30, against Rs 20.10 crore for the corresponding period of previous year. However, net sales were down 56% to Rs 14.55 crore against Rs 33.24 crore. RNRL posted earnings of Rs 0.13 a share during the quarter, registering 8.3% decline over prior year period.

Dish TV loss

Dish TV on Tuesday reported a net loss of Rs 56.13 crore for the second quarter ending September 30, 2009, narrowing down from a loss of Rs 154.11 crore in the same quarter last year. The total income of the company stood at Rs 257.49 crore.

Cadila Q2 profit up

Cadila Healthcare Ltd posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 131.92 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 as compared to Rs 94.88 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2008. Total income increased from Rs 743.65 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2008 to Rs 949.89 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009.

Kotak Mahindra Bank net up

Kotak Mahindra Bank on Friday reported 86.22% rise in its net profit at 299.76 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2009, over the same period last year. Total income rose to Rs 2,312.91 crore in the latest quarter ended September 30, 2009, up 25.05 per cent from Rs 1,849.51 crore in the same period corresponding fiscal, Kotak Mahindra Bank said.

Aban Offshore net up 7%

Aban Offshore has recorded a net profit of Rs 87.33 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, up 7.36% from Rs 81.34 crore registered in the same period previous fiscal. Total income increased to Rs 326.61crore from Rs 290.15 crore posted in the same quarter in the last fiscal,said a company filing with the BSE.

GMR Infra net dips 40%

GMR Infrastructures consolidated net profit was down 40% at Rs 53.61 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2009 compared to Rs 90 crore during the September quarter of the previous fiscal.

The companys total income rose to Rs 1,209.76 crore during the July-September period of the current fiscal from Rs 856.59 crore in the same period last year.

Zensar net up 97%

Zensar Technologies on Tuesday reported 97% rise in its net profit for the quarter-ended September 30, 2009 to Rs 37.86 crore from Rs 19.13 crore for the previous years corresponding quarter. Total income grew by 7 & to Rs. 255.25 crore for the quarter as against 238.31 crore for the same quarter last year.
