ONGC To Kick Off Deep-water Drilling

The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is all set to kick-off its deep water drilling campaign with the arrival of its drill ship - Belford Dolphin. The rig has arrived in Mumbai from where it will move to the Gulf of Kutch where the first well is to be spud on November 30. The campaign is called Sagar Samriddhi.

A company press statement said that the rig was a fifth generation drill ship and is equipped with state-of-the-art drilling system. The rig is dynamically positioned and is capable of drilling in up to 3,000 metres under the sea level. The first well would be dug in 1,862 meter water depth.
