George W Bush?s attribution of the spiralling global food prices to the rising prosperity of India?s huge middle class is unwise and thoughtless. The people of India have the right to eat better to live better. True, the world is in the grip of a food crisis right now. But it is the misuse and/or misallocation of crops and farmland in all nations, including the US, that are major factors driving up global food prices. Diversion of millions of acres of farmland to biofuel crops in the US contributes in no small measure to world food inflation.

Bush don?t preach

The US president should stop preaching to others and instead worry about the wastage of food and wrong usage of foodgrains in his own country to bring down global food prices.
