Nod for 19 new mega projects in Punjab

The Empowered Committee set up by the Punjab Government to clear mega projects under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has given its nod for 19 new mega projects to be set up in the state, with an investment of about Rs.4373.55 crore.

The new projects would generate employment for 21,350 persons, besides large-scale indirect employment. The new mega projects were cleared by the empowered committee on Wednesday.

An official spokesman of the Punjab Government said the committee approved two manufacturing projects of Steel Strips Wheels Limited, a listed company and Indian Acrylics Limited.

These two mega projects would be set up in Patiala and Sangrur districts respectively, with a total investment of Rs 249 crore and would generate employment of 2,000 persons.
