The Birla versus Lodha legal battle over the purported will of the late Mrs Priyamvada Birla, widow of Mr MP Birla, will now be heard at the court of Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta.

Acting Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court Justice A N Roy on Tuesday referred the case to the court of Justice Sengupta at room number 7 of the Calcutta High Court. According to sources, the case may come up for hearing either on Wednesday (July 28) or on Thursday (July 29) at or after 2pm, high court sources said.

The case was referred to Justice Senguptas court after Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee, on Monday, refused to hear the case beacuse of his and his familys personal association with the Birla family, especially with Mr SK Birla.

On Monday, Justice Mukherjee released the case and requested the acting chief justice to refer the case to any other bench.

Through her last will, Mrs Birla bequeathed the entire property and assets of the MP Birla Group, worth over Rs 5,000 crore, to Mr RS Lodha.
