NDA to release common agenda for Bihar poll

BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Nitish Kumar will jointly release the NDAs common agenda for governance for the Bihar elections in Patna on January 27.

Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is also expected to address his maiden election rally in the state for the coming polls on the same day, party sources said.

Senior JD-U leader Sharad Yadav will share the dais with Mr Vajpayee in a constituency from where the BJP is contesting, they said.

As part of the joint campaign programme, the former prime minister would be addressing at least two joint rallies with JD-U leaders in the state every week.

The alliance has also formed two teams, comprising BJPs Sushil Kumar Modi and Nitish Kumar, and CP Thakur and Sharad Yadav, to campaign jointly in different parts of the state, the sources said.

According to the campaign programme worked out by BJP president LK Advani, all the partys national leaders will be hitting the campaign trail in all three states Haryana, Jharkhand and Bihar. Apart from the leaders already mentioned, the others include Jaswant Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi, former party president M Venkaiah Naidu, Sushma Swaraj, Pramod Mahajan and VK Malhotra, as well as BJP chief ministers Narendra Modi, Vasundhara Raje, Babulal Gaur and Raman Singh.

Cine stars including Dara Singh and Hema Malini will also be campaigning.
