NAM news network will be made credible

Malaysia on Tuesday vowed to make the NAM news network a credible global news network which could be tapped by both the developing countries and the Western world but said it will not be a tool for West-bashing.

The Triple-N, as Malaysia likes to call it, has replaced the long dormant Non Aligned News Agencies Pool (Nanap). Non Aligned information ministers on Tuesday unanimously welcomed the setting up of Triple-N, the brainchild of Malaysia, with all countries promising it support.

The news network will be based in Kuala Lumpur and will not be shifted when Malaysia passes on the NAM chairmanship, Malaysias information minister Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir told reporters at the end of the 6th conference of the ministers of information of Non Aligned Countries (Cominac). We have to be responsible and not go on a West-bashing spree, Abdul Kadir said.
