The winners- MyFareBox, Synergita, SmartSociety.in, Language Translation solution, English Dictionary + Gamified dictionary app and Mandi Trades- were announced for specified categories.
Where MyFareBox provides airfare content from 900+ airlines across 70 countries, Synergita allows HR managers manage workflow and date for employe appraisals. Both are ideal of large enterprises. SmartSociety.in helps in managing finance and is meant to help MSME sector.
Helping in translating Indian regional languages in to English, the Language Translation solution could be very useful in various government schemes that reach out to rural India. While the above mentioned is useful for government, English Dictionary + Gamified dictionary app helps individual user in building English vocabulary through interactive games and is available for free.
The last winning team must have thought of our farmers while designing Mandi Trades. This app aims at achieving direct selling of products between farmers and consumers.
Speaking at the event, Joseph Landes, General Manager - Developer Experience & Evangelism, Microsoft India, said, We see development of commercial apps as the next big trend in the app development ecosystem in India as it is lucrative and in high demand. During the competition, we have seen electrifying energy and enthusiasm from the participants with capabilities to build solutions that have large-scale impact both for India and the world.
He also added that he believes the next big app will come from India. "India is the ideal place for developing commercial applications and solutions. I also continue to maintain that the next big app will come from India.
Designed to recognize excellence in the development of commercial apps and solutions on the Windows platform, Code for Honor was started in December 2013 and saw 2098 registrations from over 170 cities. This pan-India initiative saw been significant participation from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, NCR, Pune and Mumbai. The contest was supported by organisations like NIC, NASSCOM, TiE, Intel, Nokia, ICertis, Barrier Break and Microsofts own entity and Microsoft Ventures.
The winning teams received cash awards of INR 2,00,000 (Rupees Two Lacs) each and will now have the opportunity to connect with potential investors and customers to promote their commercial apps.
