Mukesh to CMs rescue

Mukesh Ambani came to the rescue of Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh by providing his Bombardier Global Express jet to fly up to Pune. This was necessitated as the governments aircraft met with a snag.

Mr Deshmukh, cooperation minister Patangrao Kadam and energy minister Dilip Valse-Patil were to leave for the flood-hit Sangli and Satara districts in western Maharashtra at 10 am on Thursday. However, they were stranded till 12.30 pm at the Mumbai airport as the governments aircraft was unable to take off.

This left Mr Deshmukh with no option but to look for another aircraft from the private sector. His efforts paid off after Mr Ambani agreed to make available an aircraft from the RIL stable.

Mr Deshmukh confirmed this development and told FE from Sangli: After I called up Mr Mukesh Ambani, the plane was organised and we were flown up to Pune and from where we flew in the government helicopter. The government will not hesitate to pay the necessary charges to RIL for hiring an aircraft.
