Bringing cheer to millions of farmers and citizens across India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday claimed that south-west monsoon, crucial for sowing crops like paddy, oilseeds, sugarcane, cotton and pulses, has covered all parts of India.

Southwest monsoon has further advanced today into remaining parts of Rajasthan and thus covered the entire country, India Meteorological Department said on its Website.

This year, the southwest monsoon failed to make any significant progress, after making an early start over Kerala, prompting the Met department to revise its full-year forecast to below normal for the first time in four years.

The monsoon has recovered in late June, reducing the deficit to just around 29% for the week ended July 1.
