A day after the finance ministry issued draft guidelines for General Anti-Tax Avoidance Rules (GAAR), C Rangarajan, chairman of Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, said misconceptions about "certain changes" introduced by the government need to be removed.

There are misconceptions about some changes that we have made. We need to remove them and reassure that the changes that have been introduced are not intended to dampen anybody's enthusiasm, he said. While Rangarajan did not specify the companies that have a "dampened" enthusiasm, he said that the government is taking actions which will eventually "improve investor sentiments".
