Minister for roads, transport and highways CP Joshi told Fe the proposed amendment will seek to increase the number of members on the NHAI board as a lot of issues and new-age challenges like safety, financial difficulties remain out of the NHAI ambit.

?We will introduce the amendments soon…we require more experts. We have listed it (for this session of Parliament),? Joshi said.

According to sources, two new categories that could be introduced are road safety and financial analysis. Sources say the authority will also have three new faces on its board soon.?NHAI will soon have new names. MP Sharma has already joined as member technical. Narendra Kumar and Satish Chandra are two new members. The selection process is over and they are expected to take charge by month end,? sources said.

Currently, a few members are serving on extension and a few are handling dual charges. For instance, member finance JN Singh is also in-charge of admin. His tenure ended on January 31, but was extended till March 31. Of these three names, it is believed Satish Chandra will be member finance and Narendra Kumar will take over as member admin.
