Microsoft Aims At 40% Of BI Solutions Market

Seeing immense potential in business intelligence (BI) solutions in India, Microsoft Corporation India Pvt Ltd is aiming at 35-40 per cent of the BI solutions market by 2005. The company estimates the BI market in India to be around $35 million by 2005.

As part of its strategy to address this potential market, Microsoft has launched Business Intelligence Acceler-ator, a set of tools and technologies that streamline BI implementation. The company is also planning to introduce structured query language (SQL) reporting services in December.

Microsoft is targeting banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), manufacturing and retail sectors with the solution.

We are targeting 35-40 per cent of the BI market share by 2005 and this will be possible through partnerships and by spreading awareness among existing as well as new customers, Microsoft Corporation India Pvt Ltd group manager, Sanjiv Mathur, said.

BI solutions include a broad range of technologies, software platforms, applications and processes that help organisations to analyse data and make efficient decisions.

Research firm IDC estimates the Asia Pacific BI market to be around $1 billion by 2007.
