Apart from businessmen and tourists, Bollywood has caught the fancy of Air Mauritius as a probable revenue puller for the airline. The national carrier of Mauritius is working in tandem with the Mauritius Film Development Corporation (MFDC) and are meeting probable film makers in India and showcasing how the picturesque locales in Mauritius would help cut shooting expenditure for the Hindi film fraternity.

Says Girish Vidwans, head of sales and marketing, India, Air Mauritius, We have a scheme whereby we offer a free ticket on every 15 tickets purchased. Though the discretion lies with us on validating the offer to a particular group, it is economical for big crews boarding an Air Mauritius flight. The ticket fare for a roundtrip to Mauritius from Mumbai is Rs 27,500 during the peak season.

Apart from the schemes, MFDC also has a larger role to play in pulling more of Bollywood to the emerald-blue sea waters, sandy beaches and locations like Cheneval amongst many in Mauritius for shooting purposes. MFDC sees that the group gets the shooting permission from the authorities at a one stop window.
