Methanol Prices Rise 30% In June

Domestic prices of methanol have jumped by around 30 per cent in the last one month keeping with the international trend. The short supply in the international and the domestic markets may see prices further go up, traders said.

Among major countries in which methanol plants are shut down includes UAE, Iran, and Malaysia. Annually, India imports around 2 to 2.5 lakh tpa and local methanol production capacities is estimated to be around- 3.5 lakh tpa.

Leading domestic manufacturers of methanol —Deepak Fertilisers and Rashtriya Chemical Fertilisers

(RCF) among others — too have raised their prices in range of 10-35 per cent.
