The new Skoda Rapid
Skoda, the Czech automaker, launched the new Rapid at a starting price of Rs 7.22 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. While Skoda has not changed the design of the car, the sedan gets
a new engine and an automatic gearbox?the 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine mated to the 7-speed DSG gearbox. The petrol model is unchanged and features the old 1.6-litre 104 bhp engine. This time around, Skoda has introduced an accessory pack called the Black Package. The top-end DSG model will cost you Rs 10.97 lakh.
The new Volkswagen Vento
Volkswagen?s new Vento gets a range of four-cylinder engines?1.6 MPI, 1.2 TSI and 1.5 TDI. The 1.5 TDI gets the 7-Speed DSG transmission. The fuel economy figure for this engine is 21.21 kmpl. There are other changes too, such as dual front airbags on all variants, redesigned alloy wheels and more powerful dual-beam headlamps. Priced from Rs 7.44 lakh to Rs 10.49 lakh, ex-showroom, Mumbai.

Hyundai Verna
Was the leader until Honda came out with the new City last year. Priced from Rs 7.39 lakh (petrol) and Rs 8.56 lakh (diesel)
Maruti Ciaz
To be launched next month, we expect Maruti to price the Ciaz from Rs 7 lakh onwards.
