Marriage in same gotra not proper, reiterates Hooda

Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that in his view marriage in the same gotra was not appropriate. He was replying to a question after addressing the function organised to commemorate 125 years of the Congress party in Rohtak on Thursday.

Hooda said that the khap panchayats work like social organisations and it was expected of them to work as per the law of the land.

Earlier while addressing the function, he said that the present democratic system of governance is the contribution of the Congress party. He said that the Congress made a major contribution in propagating the spirit of nationalism by establishing its presence in all parts of the country. Hooda said that the farsighted policies of the party had strengthened the countrys economy despite the worldwide economic meltdown when even the banks of countries like the US had failed.

Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Phool Chand Mullana, Prof Suresh Mishra of Indian Public Administration Institute, Delhi, HPCC Working President Kuldeep Sharma, MPs Shadi Lal Batra, Deepender Singh Hooda, and Arvind Sharma were also present at the function.
