M-cap Of BSE Shares Surges Rs 18,721 Cr Since Friday Last

The aggregate market capitalisation (M-cap) of The Stock Exchange, Mumbais (BSE) A group shares rose by a whopping Rs 18,441 crore (2.15 per cent) in a day from the level of Rs 8,58,895 crore as on October 31, 2003 to Rs 8,77,336 crore as on November 3, 2003. And the total BSE M-cap increased by 18,721 crore (1.91 per cent) during the same period. On the other hand, Sensex increased by 156.16 points to 5,063.03 on November 3 from the level of 4,906.87 on October 31, 2003.

ONGC, the numero uno in terms of M-cap, increased its value by Rs 1,776.28 crore during the period. Reliance Industries increased its value by Rs 1,710 crore during the day.

Among others, some significant increase in M-cap on November 3, were seen in major stocks like iGate Global, gained a whopping Rs 115.50 crore to its M-cap, an increase of 22.91 per cent over its October 31 level at Rs 504.23 crore.

Hindustan Inks showed an increase of 15.33 per cent in its M-cap. Wockhardt gained Rs 249.0 crore to its M-cap during the study period. Some other PSU stocks also showed an increase in M-cap like Maruti Udyog (7.77 per cent), Bharat Earth Movers (4.95 per cent), Gail (4.02 per cent), MTNL (3.87 per cent) and SCI (2.51 per cent). Some IT stocks also showed significant increase. Consider HCL Techno, which increased by 8.78 per cent or Polaris Software, which increased by 7.79 per cent.
