L&T Q3 net zooms 64%

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), which on Friday announced a 63.7 per cent growth in net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 01 to Rs 54.51 crore over Rs 33.29 crore of the same quarter last fiscal despite a marginal slump in sales at Rs 1,923.03 crore, said it was cautiously optimistic about the future outlook.

Total expenditure rose to Rs 1,732.19 crore from Rs 1,727.24 crore. Earnings per share (basic) stood at Rs 2.19 against Rs 1.34. Other income at Rs 34.84 crore includes the Rs 9.98-crore gain on debt retirement. L&T commissioned a cement grinding unit at Durgapur in West Bengal in this January, taking the overall capacity to 16 million tonne.
