Lock-out At Titan Hosur Units

Titan Industries Ltd, the Tata group watch and jewellery products maker, has declared a lock-out at its Hosur factories, following a strike call by its labour union. The lock-out is effective from February 13 at the watch and jewellery division at Hosur in Tamil Nadu, which has a total workforce of over 1,700 employees, an official spokesman of Titan said in Bangalore on Thursday. However, he said, the Titan's assembly unit at Dehradun remains unaffected.

Jaya Launches New Projects
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday launched welfare and development projects worth about Rs 236 crore in Cuddalore. Besides laying foundation stone for 720 projects at a cost of Rs 39 crore such as buildings of district courts, electric sub stations, school buildings and village water supply projects, she also distributed cash and benefits worth Rs 20 crore to 25 thousand needy beneficiaries under various welfare schemes.

Pension For Kerala Dairy Farmers Likely
A pension scheme for dairy farmers in Kearla was under consideration of the government, state agriculture minister K R Gouri told the assembly on Thursday. The minister said dairy development director had been asked to conduct a pension feasibility study. The government would take action on the matter after getting the report, she said.

Bangalore To Host Tele-Trans 2003
Bangalore will host Tele-Trans 2003, the conference-cum-exposition on Telematics in transporation to be held on March 10-11, 2003. The conference will bring together leading speakers from the automotive and wireless industry to discuss the developments and technologies that are driving the telematics business forward. The conference, organised by CII Institute of Quality, alongwith the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B), Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers' (SIAM) and Automotive Component Manufacturers' of India (ACMA), would see participation from various fields.

IT Workshop
Department of Management Studies, IISc and The School of Public Policy George Mason University US are jointly organising a workshop on `Learning from the Indian development experience' in information and communication technology, with the support of National Science Foundation of the US from March 2-5, 2003 in Bangalore.

New Netkraft CEO
IT solutions and services provider Netkraft Private Limited has announced the appointment of Mr Anand Sudarshan as the CEO and member of board of directors of the company. In addition, Mr H Narayanaswamy has joined as the CFO of the company. The founders Mr Prashanth Prakash and Mr Atul Jalan would also assume new positions as founder and chief strategy officer and founder and managing director (Europe) respectively, a company press release said.

Kerala Pvt Bus Operators Stir
Private bus operators throughout Kerala would go on an indefinite strike from March 5 in support of their various demands, Kerala State Private Bus Operators Federation leaders said. The demands among other things included formation of a transport policy, cancellation of student concession, stop the issuance of new bus permits and also take steps to check illegal parallel services, federation general secretary M S Preamkumar and president Khalid Mundappally said.
