LGEIL Launches Host Of New Peripheral Products

LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd (LGEIL), one of the leading players in display and optical storage devices (OSD) segment, has announced the launch of a host of new peripheral products including DVD writer, Combo Drive and Optical Mouse. The company also announced the launch of DVD-based home theatre systems.

Addressing the media, LGEIL managing director K R Kim said, ``with the launch of these products we are one more step ahead in our endeavour to position LG as a one stop shop for PC peripheral market''.

The new products in the OSD segment, in which LG holds a 60 per cent market share are GMA-4020B multi writeable DVD drive and GCC-5240P combo drive. The new optical mouse, LG Opti Mouse would also be bundled with the `My PC' range of computers from LG, Mr Kim added. In the computer monitor segment LG is coming up with an LCD monitor to be launched in April 2003. IT products business contributes to 20 per cent of the total LGEIL revenues.

In the year 2003, the company would focus on introducing premium products and premium marketing, with the objective of offering high tech products for the Indian customer, Mr Kim said.

LGEIL has introduced a new concept of DVD home theatre systems with digital amplifier and also six-in-one systems. The company is targeting sales of 30,000 units of DVD audios in the year 2003.

LGEIL has posted revenue of Rs 3,300 crore for the year 2002, a 50 per cent growth compared to Rs 2,200 crore in 2001. The company is targeting Rs 4,800 crore revenue in 2003.
