Speaking to FE here on Thursday at its first "plumbers' meet" organised by Poly Plast Udyog, KSB Pumps' Jharkhand in-charge, Susobhan Mitra, said the company is concentrating on spreading the name of the company as a reliable pumpset manufacturer in the domestic segment. Poly Plast Udyog is the company's dealer in East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan districts.
"While KSB Pumps is well-known among industrial units, we now want to popularise the brand in the domestic sector too," said Mitra.
The company, which launched its 0.5 hp and 1 hp hydroblock pumps in the self-priming monoblock segment here on Thursday, is targeting to sell around 1,000 pieces of these pumps and around 2,500 pieces of the submersible variety in the domestic sector in 2008.
The company wants to conduct more such "plumbers' meet" at other centers in the state like Ranchi, Dhanbad and Hazaribagh.
KSB, which has introduced the 'submersible' pumps in the country and has the submersible four-inch bore-well pump already for the domestic and agriculture sector, is planning to launch a submersible three-inch bore pump by the end of 2008. The company has identified submersible pumps of three-inch borewell as the "need of the east".
KSB claims to be the leader in the overall organised pumps market in Jharkhand with a 40% market share, though it faces stiff competition from Cromptom Greaves in the domestic and Kirloskar in the industrial segment.
The company, which had a turnover of Rs 15-crore in the state, is targeting the Rs 20 crore-mark by 2008.
Of its Rs 20 crore target in the current year, the domestic/ agriculture segment is likely to fetch a turnover of Rs 3 crore while the balance is expected to come from the high-value industrial pumps segment.
On an all-India basis, KSB has achieved sales of Rs 468 crore in 2007 and is pursuing a turnover of Rs 615 crore this year.
