The first two editions of this international event were held in Bangkok (Thailand) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) in 2008 and 2009 respectively. At present, chair of this 11-member body is occupied by Vietnam. Vice-chairmanship is with India. On behalf of the Indian government, Rubber Board will host the event at Kochi.
The meeting will look into the future of global rubber industry in the next decade by two policy making outfits ANRPC and International Rubber Study Group (IRSG).
Ten natural rubber producing countries (Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Vietnam, China, Sri Lanka, Philippines,Cambodia and Papua New Guinea) are coming out with policies and programmes for addressing the key issues in rubber in the next decade, Prof Djoko Said Damardjati said in a release from Kuala Lumpur-based ANRPC Secretariat.
The theme of the conference will be Natural Rubber Industry in the New Decade: Opportunities, Challenges and Strategies.
ANRPC's 33rd Session of the Assembly of member countries and annual meeting of the Executive Committee and two technical committees will also be held along with the conference from October 4 to 9. Over 120 overseas participants, both private sector and representing government, have already registered, ANPRC Secretariat said.
