Kinetic to make & export Dragster from India

Kinetic Motor Company Ltd plans to start production of Dragster, the moto de scooter of Italian company Italjet, from February next year, indicated Sulajja Firodia Motwani, managing director of the Indian company.

The company will produce 6,000 to 8,000 units per year of the vehicle for the foreign company which will be bound for export to countries including the US, Japan and Europe. Kinetic will import the engine from Italy, a Yamaha or Piaggio type, for the vehicle. On plans for the Indian market, she said, The 50 cc and 250 cc variants of the Dragster will be produced in India for exports. The company, with a major focus on the scooter segment, plans to sell 75,000 units of Flyte, the newly launched 125 cc gearless scooter in collaboration with Taiwans $ 1.1 billion automotive company SYM, by 2009. It is the first product from the Kinetic-SYM platform. Flyte is the highest selling scooter of SYM in the markets including Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia and China.

In December, Kinetic is looking at a sales of around 2,500 units. It plans to reach the mark of 8,000 units per month by June 2008. The ex-showroom price of Flyte in Mumbai is Rs 36, 837.
