Salman Khan-starrer ‘Kick’ made a roaring start in box office collections with an estimated Rs 26.40 crore on Friday, making it the biggest opener of 2014.

“Despite pre-Eid period + working day, #Kick opens to PHENOMENAL numbers. Fri ₹ 26.40 cr+ nett. India biz,” tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Apart from the domestic market, ‘Kick’ also made a fabulous start abroad, becoming Salman’s biggest opener in USA-Canada with collections of $340,000 (Rs 2.04 crore).

As far as weekend figure is concerned, Salman’s crackling chemistry with co-star Jacqueline Fernandez besides the catchy music should help ‘Kick’ cross the Rs 60-70 crore plus mark over the opening weekend.

Although it’s a bit too early the predict the business of ‘Kick’ in week 1, it’s a foregone conclusion that the film will pack a great total, with the business getting a big, big boost from Eid onward and become the year’s biggest hit so far.

The year’s Rs 100 crore film include Jai Ho (Rs 166 crore), Holiday – A Solider is Never Off Duty (Rs 112.45 crore), Ek Villain (Rs 105.62 crore), 2 States (Rs 102.13 crore).

Salman’s biggest grosser was his hit film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ that generated Rs 198.78 crore in box office.
