Kerala CM opens national tech biz incubator meet

The second edition of ISBA-2008 conference, is underway in Technopark, here. The conference, extending to February 3, was inaugurated by Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan.

ISBA signifies the conference of Indian STEPs (Science and Technology Entrepreneurs' Parks) and professional network of Business Incubation Associations.

PKB Menon, Chairman, ISBA said that the theme of the meet is "global leadership through innovation, incubation and entrepreneurship".

Some of the dignitaries addressing the conference are: H K Mittal, Advisor, DST, GoI; Valerie D'Costa, programme manager of the infoDEV Division of the World Bank; R M Malla, chairman, SIDBI; and other senior officials from ISBA, International Science Parks and Business Incubators, financial institutions, angel investors, venture capitalists, and other stakeholders in incubation arena.

Besides the ISBA 2008 meet, Technopark is simultaneously holding two big events; the meeting of National Advisory Committee (NAC) for STEPs (under the department of science & technology) and national meet of the TePP Outreach Centres (TUC) (under the department of scientific & industrial research).

The meet aims to create a proper framework for the business incubator activity. Besides, it aims to create a convergence platform for all stakeholders - ISBA members, the academia, R&D institutions and other players from the industry - to work together in weatlh-creation initiatives, RK Nair, CEO, Technopark, said.
