Jindal to set up 10 mt steel unit in WB

The Jindal group plans to set up a 10 million tonne integrated steel plant in West Bengal at an investment of Rs 10,000 crore. JSW Steel ltd would sign a MoU for the project on January 11 for setting up a plant at Salboni in west Midnapore district on an area of 5,000 acres, chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said at a meeting of the Left leaders on Thursday.

Vice-chairman of the company Sajjan Jindal recently met Bhattacharjee and discussed the details of the project, Left Front chairman Biman Bose told reporters after the meeting. Initially, the company would set up a 3 million-tonne plant and a 600 mw captive power unit.
