North Korea should immediately return to six-nation talks on its nuclear weapons program, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Hiroyuki Hosoda said.

Hosoda, the chief government spokesman, told a regular news conference in Tokyo today that the communist country should stop its nuclear development.

North Korea has shut down its nuclear reactor and plans to remove fuel to make bombs and increase its deterrent against a possible US attack, USA Today reported, citing an interview with Han Song Ryol, the country's deputy ambassador to the United Nations in New York.

North Korea has rejected holding a fourth round of talks on its nuclear program within the six-nation forum that also comprises the US, China, Japan, South Korea and Russia. North Korea said on February 10 it has developed nuclear weapons.
