Despite the slowdown in information technology, IT still enjoys the numero uno position on online job shops, although in terms of growth rate the IT-enabled services (ITES) job segment witnessed the highest growth over the last year. IT still holds 50 per cent of the total online job advertising space, according to and ITES job postings and response for the jobs in this sector have grown over 10 times, according to and Jobsahead.

ITES is the second largest category and it is up from number seven to number two in one year. IT is still the largest category, accounting for 50 per cent of all job advertisements. Currently, there are 25,200 vacancies in the IT sector that are live on the site, JobsAhead chief executive officer Puneet Dalmia said.

There are 16,087 vacancies live in the ITES category on JobsAhead, accounting for 32 per cent of all vacancies advertised, of the total 50,000 vacancies on the site. MonsterIndia has over 2.7 lakh resumes and 3,500 job postings, of which the call centre jobs account for 3 per cent of the total job postings, while the IT sector accounts for over 48 per cent of the jobs posted. We have seen a sharp growth in the call centre jobs in the last 6 months, partly due to growth of the call centre industry and partly due to the increased reach of MonsterIndia in this segment, country manager Arun Tadanki said.

Seeing the potential in the ITES sector, has put call centres into a separate category as part of an offline wing called Quadrangle. Apart from call centres, Quadrangle also has verticals like IT and management search. Naukri.coms mon-thly revenue from its offline job placement business is about Rs 20 lakh and of this half comes from the ITES segment. Of its monthly online revenues of Rs 45 lakh, contact centres account for Rs 5 lakh. Before 2001, IT was the largest sector on our site but now with the booming call centre industry, we see that soon call centres segment will replace IT. Already, the job postings for ITES segment has grown from a little less than 100 job postings recorded last year to the current 961 postings (10 times growth), director-sales marketing Hitesh Oberoi said. Companies like GE, Spectramind, EXL Serv-ices, Epicenter, Teleperfor-mance and HCL-Infinet, Daksh and IT&T, have also posted jobs on these sites.
