InfoTech Eyes Equity Infusion By United Tech Cos

After roping in US-based $8 billion Pratt & Whitney as a strategic and long-term partner, GIS, engineering and IT services company InfoTech Enterprises Ltd has set its sights on the other subsidiaries of the $28 billion United Technologies group to achieve its dream of becoming a $100 million company by 2005-06.

Speaking to eFE, InfoTech Enterprises chairman and managing director BVR Mohan Reddy said, We feel there is scope for InfoTech to tap the remaining $20 billion businesses of other subsidiaries of United Technologies. Creating partners like Pratt & Whitney is one of our main strategies for long-term and sustainable growth. After demonstrating our capability with Pratt & Whitney, we feel that we will be able to find such partners in the near future, Mr Mohan Reddy said.

It is not that InfoTech will restrict its focus towards the subsidiaries of United Technologies. We will also identify other partners abroad in the areas where we are strong, Mr Reddy pointed out.

InfoTechs strategy includes gaining domain expertise, roping in long term partners, expanding its marketing/sales network abroad, strategic brand creation and acquisitions for inorganic growth, Mr Reddy said.

InfoTech president and executive director Sudhir Sethi said, The company is currently working with US-based Analytical Services Inc (ASI) and Tanna Inc for power project and data collections respectively.

InfoTech is foraying into areas such as embedded system, aerospace, automotive, industrial product alliances, expansion of service portfolio, cross-seeding services into existing accounts, besides entering new markets. Our aim is to become one of the top three companies in GIS, engineering and IT services in the near future, Mr Sethi said.

The company has also expanded its sales force in Europe and Asia Pacific to identify local partners to submit bids for GIS projects, he said.

It is also expanding its engineering service offerings like tech pubs, manufacturing support and after-sales services. The company has created additional centres of excellence to take up projects which it recently bagged in North America and Europe, Mr Sethi said.
