The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and its French counterpart MEDEF have decided to set up the India-France CEOs forum as a part of Invest India, a conference to capitalise on the common strengths of the two markets.

Making his address to an audience of French businessmen, minister for commerce and industry Arun Jaitley said, Investors are looking for security and returns. India has both. And to enable that to happen, we now have a stability of policy achieved through consensus.

Mr Jaitley said that the CEOs forum would be effective in taking French and Indian business interests forward, especially since it will follow a sectoral approach. Also present at the announcement were French ambassador to India Dominique Girard, and Indian ambassador to France Savitri Kunadi. Commerce ministry special secretary SN Menon and other high-level officials were also part of the meeting, according to a CII release.

The release said that while the mood at the conference was very positive, the recurring theme from both the sides was: this time around, France should not allow itself to be deprived of the opportunities in India.
