Indian Bank To Open 20 New Branches, Plans Focus On Northern Mkt

Chennai-based Indian Bank will open 20 new branches, including in Delhi and other northern states, as part of its strategy to expand business and increase profitability in this fiscal.

We have got the RBI licence to open 20 new branches in the country, including Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, Indian bank chairman MBN Rao told PTI. With a brand equity in southern markets, Indian Bank is aiming to strengthen its toe-hold in the north, he said.

In line with the Centres commitment of a 30% growth in agricultural credit this year to Rs 1,04,500 crore, Mr Rao said the bank, is focussing on the sector.
