Hotmail co-founder Sabeer Bhatia has launched, a free conferencing facility, a few months after launching Live Documents, an online office application.

"Through, we are targeting small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurs. But anyone can use this facility. It is absolutely free," Co-Founder Sabeer Bhatia told reporters in Mumbai.

People would have to go to the website and register themselves. Once they have done the registration they would be given a conference ID and PIN, which could be circulated to begin conferencing, Bhatia said.

Revenue for this business would be generated through advertisements. "Before the conference begins there would be a five-second advertisement. We have not decided the tariff as yet. It could be as low as Re 1 per 5 second of advertisement," he said.

"If there are 40,000 people using the conference facility a day, then I can make Rs 40,000 in a day too," he said.

The idea to set up a free conferencing facility came to Bhatia when he had to make a conference call between his offices in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi.

"The existing facilities are too costly. With, conferencing is free now," he added.
