Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Bang Bang’ box office collections on Day 1 highest ever?

Not just Day 1, Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Bang Bang’ in line for all-time record 5-day box office collections…

Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Bang Bang’ has managed to score a huge victory. In an ongoing battle of screens, the Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif starrer is stepping into the arena on a high, what with Fox confirming its release on over 5,100 screens. While 4,300 screens would be in India, 852 screens are overseas.

This is the first ever instance of a Bollywood film releasing in over 5,000 screens worldwide, hence making it the biggest ever. Coming to the Opening Day, reports from across the country state that ‘Bang Bang’ has opened on a thunderous note with an almost 90-100% occupancy rate.

All in all, film lovers can brace up for not just the highest ever Day One box office collections in Bollywood but also the biggest ever 5 day collections.

‘Bang Bang’ is an official remake of the Hollywood film ‘Knight and Day’ starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. The action romantic musical film is directed by Siddharth Anand (Salaam Namaste, Ta Ra Rum Pum, Bachna Ae Haseeno) and produced by Fox Star Studios.

Hrithik Roshan’s last film ‘Krrish 3’, which was released on November 1, 2014, collected Rs 25.50 crore on opening day, Rs 72.8 on the opening weekend, Rs 166.52 crore in the first week with overall box office collections of Rs 244.92 crore (India business).

Meanwhile reports suggest that Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Haider’, which is looking at a rather niche and selective outing for itself, would be arriving on around 1100 screens.

Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Haider’ will find it tough to make an impact with its box office collections, despite its inherent appeal.

‘Haider’ has managed a measly 25-30% opening occupancy rate.

While Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Bang Bang’ is expected to dominate the extended weekend, with the film being the entertainment-starved audience’s first choice.

‘Haider’ will have to rely heavily on good word of mouth to post decent collections over evening and night shows. Haider movie review: A gorgeous but choppy film

With ‘Haider’, Shraddha Kapoor too is on tenterhooks as she is in a position to notch up a Rs 100 crore box office collections hattrick after the super success of ‘Ek Villain’ and ‘Aashiqui 2’.
