Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Bang Bang’ box office collections have not managed to weave magic, but they have saved the actor from blushes and in fact have given him something to crow about ? yet another Rs 200 cr hit.
As week 1 turned into week 2, ‘Bang Bang was huffing and puffing and it was evident it was not going to set any all-time records.
However, it continued to pull in limited crowds and the box office collections kept adding up day by day both in India and overseas.
But nothing could stop it from registering its worst performance since its release on Monday, notching up box office collections of just Rs 3.61 cr (day 12).
The total for India has added up to Rs 158.29 cr ? the movie’s budget was in excess of Rs 140 cr.
So, ‘Bang Bang’ box office collections from just India, have put it in profit zone. And if you start adding up the overseas collections, then the overall figure climbs up to Rs 217.51 cr.
Indeed, the figure is nothing to sneeze at.
And definitely, ‘Bang Bang’ box office collections have given Hrithik Roshan yet another Rs 200-cr movie. That counts for a lot in the Bollywood pecking order.
Luck has played quite a part in securing this position for ‘Bang Bang’, you could also say, the marketing guys pulled off a coup ? not only did they get the timing right to book a mammoth weekend on release, they also did not have any big ticket movie releasing after it. The competition was small indeed: Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Haider’, ‘Tamanchay’, ‘Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami’ and ‘Jigariyaa’. ‘Bang Bang’ suitably dispatched them into oblivion.
Happily for Hrithik Roshan and ‘Bang Bang’, the near future is bright still as the next big release is not going to hit screens till after Diwali ? Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’.
