Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif starrer ‘Bang Bang’ has started on an excellent note, with its box office collections clocking an impressive Rs 27.54 crore on Day one, becoming the fifth biggest opener of all-time.
Expected to put up a record breaking performance, ‘Bang Bang’ box office collections for opening day surpassed Hrithik Roshan’s previous best of Rs 25.50 crore from ‘Krrish 3’. But it has been a little bit disappointing as the film failed to surpass ‘Singham Returns’, even though it was released on a holiday.
The Ajay Devgn-starrer still remains the year’s best opener with Rs 32.09 crore. ‘Bang Bang’, however, forced Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’ (Rs 26.40 crore) to third position as per 2014 record is concerned.
Aamir Khan’s ‘Dhoom 3’ still remains the No 1 opener with SRK’s ‘Chennai Express’ and Salman’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ rounding up the top 3.
All eyes have been on ‘Bang Bang’, even before its release, and right from the onset, it was evidently clear that the Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif starrer would emerge as a winner at the box office. The film was released in more than 5,100 theatres across India and 50 other countries with record number of screens in the US, UK and the Middle East.
With the long weekend ahead, ‘Bang Bang’ looks to be a huge success at the box office.
