HLL Launches New Division, Expands Portfolio

Fast-moving consumer goods giant Hindustan Lever Ltd has expanded its product portfolio for its direct selling business by launching Home Care, which includes kitchen and laundry care products. The company also plans to add Nutrium Plus-- nutritional products-- to its portfolio.

Announcing the formal launch of Hindustan Lever Network, a new division dedicated to direct marketing business that includes Aviance, HLL executive director (new ventures and marketing services) Dalip Sehgal said, "HLL has built a reputation of trust and quality over a century. With its existing position of strength as the leading consumer goods company in India, HLL will leverage its capabilities across manufacturing, supply chain, R&D and consumer understanding to provide a strongly differentiated proposition in Hindustan Lever Network that redefines the business of network marketing. Every category in which HLL is present will be mirrored in the Hindustan Lever Network."

Said Hindustan Lever Network business head KK Rajesh, "Hindustan Lever Network has been aiming at becoming the most preferred direct selling company in India. This gives us an opportunity to use and promote a wide range of products specially created by HLL for this channel. We believe that this industry is relatively at the nascent stage and there is a huge potential to be tapped. We hope that the home and laundry care products will account around 30-40 per cent of the network business in the years to come."

In the confectionery segment, Max candies has been rated as the second largest brand in December 2002 by ORG-Marg, which is just below Alpenlibe, which is the number one brand in the country.
