HCL Infosystems income up; HCC net slides 14%

Information technology solutions provider HCL Infosystems on Friday reported a net profit after tax (PBT) of Rs 173.12 crore for the third quarter ended March 31, compared to Rs 34.50 crore for the same quarter last fiscal. Standalone total income (net of excise) stood at Rs 7,472.62 crore for the January-March quarter in this fiscal, while the same was at Rs 666.74 crore for the corresponding period last year. The companys board of directors has approved the payment of third interim dividend of Rs 2 per share (100%) on the paid up share capital of the company for the year 2006-2007. Consequently, revenue and PBT are higher by Rs 6,779.38 crore and Rs 197.92 crore respectively for both the periods. The consolidated results show that the group posted a net PBT of Rs 87.98 crore for the quarter ended March 31, where as the same was at Rs 84.44 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006. Total income (net of excise) stood at Rs 2,916.48 crore for the January-March quarter where as the same was at Rs 3,200.70 crore in the corresponding period.

HCC net down 14%
Hindustan Construction Company Ltd (HCC) has posted a 14% dip in net profit at Rs 79.28 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007, as compared to Rs 92.14 crore recorded during the previous corresponding period. This is due to the impact of withdrawal of Section 80 IA benefit. The company has reported 18% increase in sales turnover at Rs 2,395.50 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007, as compared to Rs 2,028.15 crore registered during the previous corresponding period. For the quarter ended March 31, 2007, the company has recorded a 9% increase in turnover at Rs 847.57 crore as compared to RS 775.10 crore. The company has also gained 28% rise in operating profits of Rs 87.66 crore against Rs 68.70 crore reported during the previous corresponding period.

UTV net zooms 290%
UTV Software Communications Ltd posted a net profit of Rs 55.5 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 14.2 crore last year, an increase of 290%. The consolidated revenue for the year ended March 31, 2007 is Rs 203 crore as compared to Rs 218 crore last year. The company posted a net profit at of Rs 19.7 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 6.6 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006, an increase of 197 %. The total income is Rs 41.4 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006 as compared to Rs 85.8 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2007.

JK Tyre sales up 20%
Tyre manufacturer JK Tyre and Industries Ltd posted a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 13.75 crore in Q2 ended March 31, up from Rs 3.59 crore. Total sales during this period stood at Rs 848.59 crore, up 20.5% as compared to Rs 706.81 crore in the corresponding period last year. Operating profit of the company in this quarter grew to Rs 62.40 crore, up 57%, a company statement said. For H1 ended March, the company registered a PAT of Rs 21.92 crore. During this period, JK recorded gross sales of Rs 1,592 crore, up 17.13%.

Polaris net at Rs 79.6 cr
Polaris Software Lab Ltd on Friday recorded a net profit of Rs 79.58 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 13.29 crore for the same period the previous year. Total income has increased from Rs 689.9 crore for the financial year 2005-06 as against Rs 909 crore for the 2006-07. The group has recorded a consolidated net profit of Rs 101 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 21.3 crore for the same period the previous year.

Cairn net at Rs 8.54 cr
In its first ever result post listing, Cairn India Ltd, the subsidiary of UK-based Cairn Plc, has posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 37.56 crore for the first quarter ended March 31, 2007. Total income for the company during the quarter stood at Rs 272.55 crore, the company said in a comminique to the Bombay Stock Exchange. On a standalone basis, the company has posted a net loss of Rs 8.54 crore for the quarter. Total income for the company during the quarter stood at Rs 12.60 crore, it added.

Tube Investments net dips Rs 156 crore
Net profit of Tube Investments, part of the Murugappa group has dropped to Rs 155.78 crore during the year ended March 2007 from Rs 182.93 crore in the previous year. Net sales stood at Rs 1,615.04 crore (Rs 1,460.94 crore). Interest and depreciation during the year were Rs 11.29 crore (Rs 12.90 crore) and Rs 50.39 crore (Rs 48.56 crore) respectively. The board of directors has recommended a final dividend of 75% for the FY ended March 31, 2007.

Sundaram Clayton net at Rs 92.75 crore
Sundaram Clayton Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 92.75 crore during the year ended March 2007 as against Rs 80.82 crore in the previous year. Net sales stood at Rs 816.31 crore (Rs 627.94 crore). Other income of the company was Rs 48.64 crore (Rs 43.66 crore). Interest and depreciation were at Rs 16.08 crore (Rs 8.27 crore) and Rs 32.73 crore (Rs 26.98 crore) respectively.

KPIT Cummins net up
KPIT Cummins Infosystems on Friday reported a 37% jump in net profit to Rs 14.05 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, as against Rs 10.25 crore in the year-ago period. Total revenues stood at Rs 130.30 crore for the January-March quarter, registering a growth of 44.52% as against Rs 90.16 crore for the corresponding period in 2006, a statement said. For the year ended March 31, KPIT Cummins Infosystems earned a net profit of Rs 50.47 crore, up 55.01% over Rs 32.55 crore recorded last year, the statement said. Total revenues for the year were at Rs 463.70 crore, reflecting 45.72% jump over FY06, which were at Rs 318.21 crore, it added.

Aztecsoft net at Rs 39 cr
Aztecsoft Ltd (Aztecsoft) on Friday reported its net profit at Rs 38.62 crore for 2006-07, up from Rs 36.87 crore in the previous fiscal. The revenues were Rs 260.99 crore, a 32% rise over Rs 198.23 crore in FY 2005-06. For the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2007 the Bangalore-headquartered firm posted revenues of Rs 62.25 crore and a net profit of Rs 6.75 crore on a consolidated basis, a company statement said.

PTC net down by 17%
PTC India Ltd, Indias biggest power trading firm, on Friday posted a 17% decline in net profit for the fourth quarter of 2006-07 at Rs 5.80 crore as against Rs 6.99 crore in the previous fiscal. The companys income from operations decreased by 20% for the quarter ended March 31, 2007 at Rs 602.48 crore as against Rs 754.68 crore for the same period of 2005-06, PTC said in a press release. The company posted a 14% fall in its net profit for 2006-07 at Rs 35.09 crore as against Rs 40.63 crore of the previous financial year. However, the companys income from operations in 2006-07 grew by 21% at Rs 3,766.66 crore from Rs 3,108.55 crore in 2005-06.

Subros net down 16%
Automotive air conditioners maker Subros Ltd on Friday reported a 16.61% dip in its net profit for the quarter ended March 31 at Rs 8.08 crore, against Rs 9.69 crore in the corresponding period in previous fiscal. Subross turnover during the quarter stood at Rs 213.78 crore from the sale of 1,33,581 ACs, the company said in a statement.

GlaxoSmithKline net profit at Rs 111 crore
GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals on Friday posted a net profit of Rs 111.32 crore for the first quarter ended March 31, where as the same was at Rs 101.23 crore for the same quarter last year. Total income (net of excise) stood at Rs 448.66 crore for the January-March quarter in this fiscal while the same was at Rs 448.39 crore for the corresponding period in the last fiscal.

First Source net zooms
First Source, one of the top three BPO's in the country has posted a net profit of Rs 97.2 crore for the year ended on March 31, 2007 as against Rs 24.6 crore for the previous year, an increase of 295.12%. The company posted revenues at Rs 829.7 crore for the year ended as compared to Rs 548.7 crore in the previous year, an increase of 51.21%.

Indoco Remedies net up 47%
Indoco Remedies posted a net profit at Rs 2.1 crore for the quarter ended on March 31, 2007 as against Rs 1.42 crore in the corresponding quarter, an increase of 47.8%. The company posted revenues at Rs 73.6 crore for the quarter as against Rs 48.07 crore in the corresponding quarter, an increase of 53.3%.

SBBBJ net at Rs 306 cr
State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur (SBBBJ) has posted a net profit of Rs 305.80 crore for 2006-07 as compared to Rs 145.03 crore registered in 2005-06. As per a statement, the net interest income of the bank increased to Rs 1,068.86 crore registering a growth of 7.65% in 2006-07 from Rs 992.90 crore. The non-interest income grew by Rs 115.19 crore to touch Rs 363.10 crore.

Ajanta Pharma PAT at Rs 14.66 crore
Ajanta Pharma Ltd has posted a consolidated profit after tax (PBT) of Rs 14.66 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007 against Rs 12.35 crore during the previous year. Consolidated sales stood at Rs 266.49 crore against Rs 236.07 crore in the previous year, indicating a growth of 13%. The company's board has recommended a higher dividend of 20% on equity shares. During the financial year, the company launched 15 new products in the speciality segments, a media release said.

Jubilant PAT up 76% in FY 07
On the back of polymer and other related business growth, Jubilant Organosys posted a profit after tax (PBT) of 76% to Rs 228 crore in the financial year 2006-07. Net revenue growth of the company during this period stood at Rs 1,809 crore, up 20.7% as compared to the previous year. This comprised of Rs 831 crore earned through international sales. Ebidta stood at Rs 377 crore, up 59% as compared to Rs 236 crore in the last fiscal. Earning per share in this fiscal stood at Rs 13, up from Rs 8.57 in the prveious year. Jubilants Q4 revenue stood at Rs 463 crore, up 9.6% as comparted to the corresponding period last year. Net profit during this period grew by 32.5% to Rs 63 crore.
