GTL To Invest Rs 25 Crore In Pune BPO Centre

Networking engineering and IT services company GTL Group plans to invest Rs 25 crore in its upcoming business process outsourcing (BPO) facility/ call centre in Pune in the first phase.

According to a company release, this facility is expected to employ 750 BPO/call centre personnel by the second quarter of 2004-05. The funds will be deployed for infrastructure, hardware, software and technology and once operational, the centre will handle back office voice as well as non voice business for GTLs existing and new clients in the US and the UK.

The Pune centre and GTLs existing facility at Navi Mumbai are to be linked such that the company would be in a position to offer data security and disaster recovery to its clients serviced from either locations.

The GTL board met Thursday and approved the merger of Thermax Systems and Software Ltd (TSSL) and Fine Infotech Ltd with itself and has proposed to adopt April 1, 2003 as the date for the mergers.

The mergers/amalgamations may not have any impact on the companys financials, added the release.

GTL has also formed an operating council comprising business heads, the chief financial officer and head of risk management to manage the increased complexity of the global business.

The company has a shareholder base in excess of 140000 and group revenues stand at more than Rs 640 crore. The companys client list includes local as well as international MNCs and blue chip companies.
